UNDERGROUND ENGLAND

Underground England -- a name synonymous with the British rock n roll culture -- kicked into fame in the 1980s with a punk-inspired footwear collection. The brand has since evolved into a fashionable high-street label, and of late, been picked up regularly by the press and fashion bloggers.

Originally called the Brothel Creepers, the creeper shoes got their name from British soldiers returning from the WWII, who found their way through disreputable nightspots of London, still wearing their crepe-soled shoes. Creepers were eventually adopted by progressive generations, and clothed the feet of Teddy Boys, the Rockabillys and Punk Rockers.
